OSTERBURG ? FYOCK ? Edythe Mae (Brubaker), 90, formerly of Bobs Creek Road, Osterburg, passed away quietly to be with the Lord at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin, on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010. Edy was born in Ferndale on Nov. 2, 1919, daughter of the late Frank W. and Verda (Naugle) Brubaker. On Dec. 7, 1951, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winchester, Va., she married Norman A. (Dud) Fyock. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1998. Edy is survived by the following children: Norman F. Fyock, and wife, Terry; Ray A. Fyock, and companion, Terri; Clare Ann (Fyock) Barefoot, and husband, Kevin; and Daniel Fyock Sr., and wife, Letha. She also was blessed with 14 beloved grandchildren, one stepgranddaughter, 13 precious great-grandchildren, one stepgreat-grandson and one soon to be great-grandchild. She also is survived by her brother, Merle (Wayne) Brubaker, and wife, Dottie, Phoenix Ariz.; brother-in-law, Lynn (Mick) Fyock, Dallas, Texas; sister-in law, Millie Shaffer; and brother-in-law, Vernon Knavel. She also was a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by son, Fred W. Fyock; brother, Earl Brubaker, and wife, Stella; sisters, Clare (Brubaker) Gilmore, and husband, Daniel, and Marion (Brubaker) Keough, and husband, William; a young brother, Fred Brubaker; and sister-in-law, Mary Mallory Brubaker. Edy was a graduate of Ferndale High and Cambria-Rowe Business College. She was the corporate secretary for WJAC-TV, assisting with the transition from radio to TV. Edy and Dud were in the dairy business and the proud owners of Knobs View Farm. They were both very active in the dairy industry. Edy also was employed in the offices of Sinclair Oil, Howard Johnsons, Hedstrom and a local magistrate?s office. She also enjoyed volunteering in various organizations. She was a member of the Busy Bees, which she held very dear to her heart. Edy was a 40-year cancer survivor and gave encouragement to so many. Our mother enjoyed life and brought special meaning to day-to-day lives that she touched, because she knew simple kindness shared could mean so much. She gave from her heart. We, the family, would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the family, friends and neighbors who offered so much love and support towards Edy, especially to the entire staff at the Meadow View Nursing Center. You gave ?Little? Edy and us peace. Thank you. Family and friends will be received at J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home, Pleasantville, on Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Edy was a member of St. Peter?s Lutheran Church, Osterburg, where funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, the Rev. Michael A. Van Dyke and the Rev. Robert Hershberger will be officiating. Interment will be in the Osterburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Relay for Life at Bedford, mail to American Cancer Society, 1004 N. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648. Edythe Mae Fyock, 90, formerly of Bobs Creek Road, Osterburg, passed away quietly to be with the Lord Saturday at Meadow View Nursing Center in Berlin, Pa.
She was born in Ferndale, daughter of the late Frank W. and Verda (Naugle) Brubaker. She married Norman A. "Dud" Fyock on Dec. 7, 1951 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1998.
Surviving are four children: Norman F. Fyock and wife, Terry, Ray A. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home in Pleasantville and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Osterburg, officiated by the Revs. Michael A. Van Dyke and Robert Hershberger.
Interment will be at the Osterburg Cemetery.
