Reeder Charles Houck, 78, of Parkersburg, passed away at his residence on June 14, 2010.
He was born July 29, 1931 in Rockport, a son of the late John Emery and Georgia Reeder Houck.
Reeder was a truck driver prior to retirement having drove for various trucking companies in the area. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He had served his country as a U.S. Marine.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Harris Houck; daughters, Catherine Church and Gregory of Parkersburg, Susan Aufdenkampe and Craig of Little Hocking; son, Richard Houck of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Andrew Church, Allison Church, Julia Church, Ethan Aufdenkampe and Devin Aufdenkampe and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Reeder was preceded in death by four sisters, Flora Houck, Mary Newbanks, Clara Dowler, Beatrice Matteson; and two brothers, John Houck Jr. and George Houck.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Post #15. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 on Wednesday and prior to the services on Thursday.
