Gertrude Mary Weibel the daughter of John A. and Clara (Anderson) Swick was born Nov. 21, 1915, in Summerfield, OH. She attended Elk Fork grade school and Summerfield High School. Gertrude attended Murnell Beauty School in Denver, CO. On April 6, 1940, Gertrude married Frank Arthur Weibel in Denver, CO. They made their home in Chariton, IA, where they farmed for 18 years. They then moved to Denver for 8 years, before moving to Lacona, IA, and then to Claremore, OK, in 1994 to be near their family. Gertrude enjoyed gardening, cooking, walking, and was very diligent about saying her rosary. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Claremore.
Gertrude is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters: Helen Cornets and Mercedes Hughs. She is survived by her sons: Dr. John Weibel of Manchester, Frank P. Weibel of Ankeny, James Weibel of Long Grove, Phillip Weibel of Gillette, WY, Paul Weibel of Claremore, and Glen Weibel of Joplin, MO; daughters: Rose Snowbarger of Kirksville, Glida Reamsnyder of Clovis, NM, and Jo Ann Smith of Claremore and sister Clara Burns of Zanesville, OH; 23 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.

A Rosary for Gertrude Mary Weibel will be Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Melcher-Dallas, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2008. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery at Bauer under the direction of Pierschbacher Funeral Home, Melcher, Iowa.
Gertrude died Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 93.
