- [S927] Obituary.
SUTTONS BAY - Bennie Joseph Morio, a friend to all, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Munson Medical Center. Bennie died from complications of an automobile accident and failure to wear his seat belt.
Bennie was born in the granary at the Morio farm, in the late fall of 1922, the son of Joseph and Matilda (Eckerle) Morio. At 2-1/2 pounds he was and continues to be one of God's greatest miracles. He lived a full and rewarding life, spending his days cutting wood, preparing for the change of seasons and helping others always cheerfully and with diligence. Bennie was the "Grandpa" in the window who greeted school children each morning with a wave and a smile. A happy man who loved to rake leaves and plow snow. A man of good spirit and heart.
Bennie was a regular participant of St. Mary's Church in Lake Leelanau, religious in prayer and support.
A farmer, a hunter, a cherry picker and grower, his care and compassion touched the lives of many. God favored him that he suffered not.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, a sister JoAnn (Dufoe-Hernacki) Morio, and a brother Lawerence Charles Morio.
