Lloyd Boehm
Lloyd A. Boehm, 79, Mandan, died peacefully with his family at his side Nov. 25, 2007, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Kenneth Phillips celebrating. Burial will follow services in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, with military honors provided by VFW Post No. 707 and American Legion Post No. 40.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 4 p.m. followed by a parish vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at the church at 9 a.m. prior to services Wednesday.
Lloyd was born Sept. 25, 1928, in Mandan, the son of Chris and Felicia (Klein) Boehm. He started working at Riedinger's Motors with his father when he was 16 years old. Lloyd joined the National Guard and was stationed at Fort Rucker from 1951 to1953. Lloyd and Alice C. Mutis were united in marriage May 22, 1954. After his return home he continued working at Riedinger's as a mechanic until 1960, when he joined Norby Rath as a salesman. Later working at the State of North Dakota for IDS until his retirement in 1994.
Lloyd had an incredible personality and a unique talent for building and flying radio controlled airplanes, from which he won many awards and trophies. Traveling, riding motorcycle, snowmobiling, especially in Yellowstone Park, gardening, playing cards and fishing with his family were great sources of enjoyment for Lloyd. Building his first boat himself, Lloyd was quite a handyman. But again, his great love was building his radio controlled airplanes. This special man will be dearly missed and will always be remembered for his loving devotion to family and friends.
Left with fond memories are his wife of 53 years, Alice, Mandan; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, James (Shirley), Eugene and William (Virginia), all of Mandan; many nieces and nephews; and his special family, Leo, Jodene, Ben and Amy (Schimetz) Zachmeier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elizabeth Upham; and one sister-in-law, Marlys Boehm.
A special thank you to Hospice for their loving care during Lloyd's long battle with cancer. Also thanks to Dr. Lange and Lloyd's special friends for their faithful visits.
