William O. Hackett, 90, of Painted Post, NY died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Corning Hospital.
He was born September 8, 1922 in Rochester, NY, the son of William O. and Eleanor (Volkmuth) Hackett Jr. He married Helen Hackett who predeceased him January 16, 2010.
William was a graduate of Edison Tech High School. He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Eastman Kodak. William was a member of the Corning VFW Post 524, Avon American Legion and the Christian Hope Center Church.
He is survived by his children, William O. (Bonnie L.) Hackett III of Corning, David T. (Deborah) Hackett of Corning, Margaret Stoos (Kedrick) of Avon, Patrick M. (Shirley) Hackett of Brockport, James E. (Barbara) Hackett of Kingsport, TN, Steven L. (Deborah) Hackett of Avon, Anne (David) Holub of Livonia, Rosemary (David Lee) of Chattanooga, TN and Andrew J. Hackett of Brockport; sister, Eleanor Porter of Arlington, TX; 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home, Corning, NY on Friday, November 23, 2012, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Christian Hope Center Church, 22 John St., Painted Post, NY at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Bath National Cemetery.
