Esther S. Goddard, 91, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center.
Esther was born October 25, 1922 in Lawrenceville, Indiana to Adam and Mable (Wolljung) Schantz. She loved Shelties and had several over the years. She also enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Esther was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Esther is survived by her children, William (Jane) Goddard III, Cathy Goddard, Ken (Judy) Goddard and Carl Goddard; siblings, Walter Schantz, Ruth Haring, Marie Hardebeck, Edith Fledderman, Leo Schantz, Frances Werner and Juliana Vonderheide; three grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Goddard Jr.; and brother, Russell Schantz.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Christ the King Catholic Church or the ALS Association in loving memory of Esther.
