Glenn Koerner, 64
November 3, 1941 - September 7, 2006
Glenn Dale Koerner was born on November 3, 1941, to Edward J. and Melinda (Hoffman) Koerner in Freeman. He was baptized into the Christian faith on December 21, 1941 and confirmed on June 12, 1955, at the Reformed Church near Freeman.
On September 12, 1965, Glenn was united in marriage to Betty Bietz of Tripp. The couple lived and farmed for 40 years on the Koerner homestead, eight miles northwest of Freeman.
He served in the SD National Guard from 1959 to 1968, and was very active in his church, serving as elder and deacon and singing in the choir. He also served for many years on the German Mutual Insurance Board, as well as the Freeman Rural Fire Board.
Glenn died September 7 after a year long struggle with ALS. He attained the age of 64 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, two daughters: Debra (Dan) Arbogast and Denise (Dan) Moore, his mother, Melinda Koerner, one sister, Bonnie (Lawrence) Mehlhaff, two grandchildren, Blake and Casey Arbogast, one nephew, David Mehlhaff and one niece, Sheila Stone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward J., and one brother, Wayne Edward.
