WOOSTER -- Elmer F. Yockey, 81, of Wooster, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at Akron General Hospital in Akron.
Services will be Monday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster, with the Rev. Melvin Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.

Elmer was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Shreve to Ernest and Vera (Bevington) Yockey, and married Denna K. Walton on Jan. 24, 1948. She survives.
He was a graduate of Wooster Business College and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was Jefferson Boy Scout Troops' first Scout Master and had worked for the J.M. Smucker Company for 39 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of American Legion Post 68 and enjoyed collecting bottles, stones and rocks. He loved fishing with his son, Donald; granddaughter, September and grandson, Eric, and also enjoyed mushroom hunting, taking tours and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his wife; children, Donald Yockey and Debbi Jenkins, both of Wooster, Michael Yockey of Marion; grandchildren, Darl, David and Jacinda Yockey, September (Darvis) Donley, Don (Alyssa) Walton, Eric Walton, Denna (Matthew) Jarr, Matthew Marti and Richard (Kady) Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Madee, Nadia, Audrey, Fallon, Saoirse, Jason Mattew, Alexander, Aden, Ione, Natalie and Kenneth; sisters, Betty Hendrix of Shreve, Helen (Harold) Taggart and Patsy Price, both of Wooster.
Elmer was preceded in death by a son Joe; a grandson, Jason Marti; brothers, Curtis, Dale and Donald Yockey; and sisters, Mona Mae Yockey, Florence Fransisco and Mary Jane Pittman.
