(Joe) Schott, Sr. Age 96, of Canton passed away Tuesday Oct. 5, 2010 at St. Luke's Lutheran Home. Joe was born Nov. 19, 1913 in Mechanicsville, Iowa to the late Albert and Minnie Schott. Joe graduated from McKinley High School and retired from the Timken Company as General Supervisor -Sheetmetal and Welding after nearly 40 years and just in time for the spring trout season. He was a man dedicated to his family, an avid outdoorsman and always ready with a joke in order to make someone smile In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence and Elmer. He is survived by his loving wife, Draga (Peg) Schott, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage on June 22, 2010. He is also survived by a son, Nelson (Joe), Jr. and wife, Jan; granddaughter, Michele Purdy and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Emily; and sisters, Geneva Keevert and Rose Pullin. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Williams Funeral Home with Fr. John Zuzik officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
