Carpenter, 70, of Sardis (Antioch Community) died Friday, October 26, 20010 at Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, W.Va. She was born September 14, 1931, in Antioch, daughter of the late Homer and Ethel Afdena (Clark) Baker. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Antioch and Antioch Community Fire Department. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Carpenter; an infant sister, Rose Mary Baker; a half-sister, Delcie McKain; two half-brothers, Vincent Earl Baker and Olas Roy Baker.She leaves her husband, Paul E. Carpenter, whom she married Oct. 6, 1951; a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Sharon) Leasure of Sardis; two sons, Bruce G. (Brenda) Carpenter of Barnesville, and Gregory P. Carpenter of Winchester, Va.; a brother, Jame A. (Carol) Baker of Antioch; a half-brother, William H. (Pauline) Baker of Canton; five grandchildren, Sabrina Marie Carpenter, Aaron Casey Carpenter, Keith Austin Carpenter, Bruce Carpenter Jr. and Nathan Lee Carpenter; her mother-in-law, Leona Skaggs of Woodsfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday with Don Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Antioch. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the home.
