Bio: Bernie SeusBernard "Bernie" Seus, 88, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Wednesday morning, April 30, 2014 at the Jennings McCall Living Facility in Forest Grove.Bernie Seus was born November 9, 1925 in Hillsboro, Oregon, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Nist) Seus. He was raised on the family farm and attended Visitation Elementary School in Verboort, and, St. Mathews Elementary School in Hillsboro. He graduated from Hillsboro Union High School, Class of 1943.He was united in marriage to Darlene Silvia Podrasky on April 15, 1950 at the St. Stephen Parish in Portland. They celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary this past month. Following their marriage they made their home on the Seus Family Farm in Hillsboro. Bernie evolved the Seus Family Farm from dairy farming by introducing strawberries, corn and other row crops and later growing clover and bluegrass seed. He then developed an interest in real estate and became a realtor working for firms in Hillsboro before co- owning and operating Spartan Real Estate. Bernie retired in 1981. They remained in the Washington County area until moving to Jennings McCall Living Center.Bernie was a member of the St. Anthony's Parish in Forest Grove, as well as the Knights of Columbus, serving as a Past Deputy Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge, and the Oregon Archeology Society. He served as a volunteer with the Cornelius Fire Department and the Tillamook Forest Center.Bernie enjoyed traveling with family and friends, touring many parts of the world including Europe and South America. Having a love of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family camping trips. He had a special interest in Indian Archeology having shared in several digs.Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Seus; his three brothers, Joe Seus, John Seus and Ed Seus and his four sisters, Mary Lahti, Genevieve VansGrunsven, Dorothy Vuylsteke and Bertha Herb.Survivors include his wife Darlene S. Seus, of Forest Grove, Oregon; his six children and their spouses, Stephen Seus and his partner, Don Ross , of San Diego, California; Carol and Terry Grant, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Marilyn and Larry Landauer, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Diane and Randy Lederbrand, of Hillsboro, Oregon, Theresa and Loren Mayer, of Bend, Oregon and Linda and Darrel Mayer, of Gaston, Oregon.
