Dorothy J. Vuylsteke, 79, lifelong resident of area

Dorothy Josephine Vuylsteke, 79, Cornelius, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at the Cedar Crest Special Care Center in Tualatin.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held Monday at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1660 Elm Street, Forest Grove.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 2), at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with Rev. William Holtzinger officiating. Burial Rites and Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held in the Parish Center at the church.
Mrs. Vuylsteke was born March 2, 1924 in Hillsboro the daughter of Joseph H. and Mary R. (Nist) Seus. She was raised in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1942.
She married Albert Simon Vuylsteke on May 23, 1944 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro. They have lived since on the Vuylsteke Family Farm, north of Cornelius. Mr. and Mrs. Vuylsteke celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past May.
Mrs. Vuylsteke was a homemaker and mother to their five children.
Mrs. Vuylsteke enjoyed gardening and playing cards. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and an active member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. She was very supportive of her prayer community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mary Lahti, Gen VanGrunsven, and Bertha Herb, and three brothers, John, Joseph and Edward Seus.
Survivors include her husband, Albert, of Cornelius; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Kevin Prime, Hillsboro, Kathy and Lonnie Dunham, of Sisters, and Janine Vuylsteke, Cornelius; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Colleen Vuylsteke, Hillsboro, and John and Alvina Vuylsteke, North Plains; a sister, Helen Thompson, Hillsboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Darlene Seus of Forest Grove; eight grandchildren, Monique Vanderhoof and her husband Eli, Nicole Kemper and her husband JoeDon, Henry, Stephen, Amy, Karli, and Ben Vuylsteke and Kayla Armstrong; two great-grandchildren and 32 nieces and nephews.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1660 Elm St., Forest Grove, 97116.
