Audena E. Newhart, 97, of Williamstown, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 20, 1911, in Calhoun County, W.Va., to John and Ruby Fox Morgan. She had taught school in a one-room school in Calhoun County and later was employed by American Viscose. Audena was a member of Williamstown Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed painting, reading and the out-of-doors.
Audena was married 57 years to Charles Richard "Dick" Newhart, who preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1991.
She is survived by her son, Allen R. Newhart of Williamstown; two grandsons, Dr. Richard C. Newhart of Parkersburg and Jeremy Todd Newhart of Williamstown; grandchildren, Tyler, Trenton, Andrew and Hannahmarie Newhart; and her sister, Joy (Robert) Stevens of Grantsville, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
