Lawrence V. ?Cookie? Vogt, 74, of Spencerville, died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rita?s Medical Center.
He was born July 13, 1929 in Delphos, to Clarence and Alma (Berelsman) Vogt.
He married Bessie (Reynolds) Vogt of Delphos, he then married Shirley E. Point Colgan on Sept. 22, 1985, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, James (Sue) Vogt of Spencerville; a daughter, Carol Ann Vogt of Spencerville; two step-daughters, Debra Stephens of Van Wert and Laura (Don) Bolinger of Spencerville; a brother, Raymond Vogt of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Austin, Heather and Eric Vogt of Spencerville; and 11 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Frank and Eugene Vogt; and three sisters, Angeline Boberg, Luella Sheets Moysey and Kathleen Mihm.
Vogt operated the Vogt?s Marathon Station in Spencerville for several years and later worked as a machinist at Dana Corp., Lima, retiring in 1990. He served in the Army at the end of World War II in Japan. He is a life member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 and a member of the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, Spencerville, and had been a member of the Delphos Eagles Lodge Aerie 471.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, Pastor Tom Shobe officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Spencerville Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call 3 p.m. Friday until the time of services.
