Richard A. Kohler, age 61, of North Canton passed away Thursday, June 12, 2003 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 10, 1942 in Canton, Ohio to the late Vincent E. and Marjorie (Ringheimer) Kohler.
A Lehman High School graduate, Dick served in the Vietnam conflict from 1966 through 1968 and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was retired from Sugardale Foods after 31 years of service. He was a 19 year veteran of the North Canton Police Auxiliary. At the time of his death, Dick was a 10 year employee of his 'Äúsecond family'Äù, Community Christian Church of North Canton. He was a member of the Louisville F.O.E. #2374, served on the board of Sugardale credit union and was a member of St. Paul'Äôs Catholic Church of North Canton.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Deborah A. (Zwick) Kohler; only daughter, Michelle Kohler Stahleker; son-in-law, Kevin M. Stahleker; two grandsons, Jacob Michael and Alex Richard; brother, Charles (Rose) Kohler; mother-in-law, Bette Zwick; brothers-in-law, Richard, Leander, David, and Michael Zwick and spouses; sisters-in-law, Victoria Klapp and Kristina Taylor and spouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was a loving son, an adoring and caring husband and father, a doting grandfather and a true friend to all. He will be remembered for his terrific sense of humor, compassion for others and his uncanny ability to make everyone laugh.
Friends may call Sunday 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. in the Arnold Funeral Home, Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10 a.m. AM in St. Paul'Äôs Catholic Church in North Canton with Rev. Msgr. James A. Clarke celebrant. Final Resting Place in North Lawn Cemetery. A special thanks to Aultman Hospice, Dr. Donald Baird and the Community Christian Church of North Canton.
