He grew up in Carlisle, Ohio and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Ohio University and received his Doctorate Degree in Physics from Ohio State University. He was employed as a researcher by the Department of Energy. Survivors include his wife, Dianne, two sons, Scott and his fiance, Terra and Matt Schehl, a step son, Michael Evans, a brother, John Schehl and his wife, Maria, three sisters, Rita Crock and her husband, Albert, Mary Merry and her husband, Dale, and Donna Bridgeman and two grandchildren.
