ROMANA BAYER Mass of Christian burial for Romana Bayer, 97 of Muenster is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster. A Rosary is set for 4:00 p.m. Wednesday followed by a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A. will officiate. arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster. Mrs. Bayer died in a Gainesville Hospital at 4:15pm Monday, March 13th. Born October 23, 1908 in Muenster, Romana was a lifetime resident of Muenster. She was the daughter of John and Susanna Trachta Walter. She married Frank Bayer in Sacred Heart Church on April 24, 1928. They spent most of their lives on a farm near Muenster and were the proud parents of four sons. Romana was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, St. Anne?s Society, 3rd Order of St. Francis and was the last surviving Gold Star Mother. Pallbearers will be grandsons. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James and Ann Bayer of Gainesville, Randy and Marilyn Bayer of Keller and Regi and Patsy Bayer of Muenster; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Hofbauer and Marie Endres of Muenster, Genie O?Dowd of Houston and Sylvia Everette of Olney, Ill. She was preceded in death by husband Frank, son Gerald, parents: John and Susie Walter four brothers, Alois, Joseph, Oscar and Alfred, sister, Terese and 6 grandchildren.
