RACINE - George J. Itzenhuiser, 61, passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center on Wednesday, February 3, 1999.
George was born in Racine, on February 22, 1937, son of the late Edward and Rosemary (nee: Johnson) Itzenhuiser and was a lifelong Racine resident. On September 1, 1962, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Joanne Grauwels.
George served in the United States Navy. George was employed by Snap on Tools for 22 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, Parish Council and served as Trustee of the church. He was a 4th degree member of the Knight's of Columbus and held the position of Faithful Navigator. He was also a member of the Snap On Management Club, the Church Singers, DPMA, Salmon Unlimited, and the Moose Lodge. He also worked part time in the Johnson's Park Pro Shop.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; his children, Mary (William E.) Borgstorm of Mount Prospect, Ill., Stephen G. Itzenhuiser of Racine, William A. (Nancy) Itzenhuiser of Naperville, Ill; his mother-in-law, Anna Grauwels; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Judie) Grauwels of Racine, Joseph (Linda) Grauwels of Racine, Sherry Grauwels of Racine, John (Marilyn) Grauwels of Fort Scott, Kan.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Itzenhuiser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, 5700 Washington Avenue, on Saturday, February 6, 1999, at 10 a.m. with Rev. William Cox officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday, February 5, 1999, from 6 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass. A memorial will be established in George's name at a later date.
