Don E. Ludwig, 92, passed away at Cedar Grove Assisted Living on Oct. 28, 2013.
He was born in Parkersburg on March 20, 1921, and was the son of the late Raymond and Alma Somerville Ludwig.
He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1939 and attended Mountain State College. He was a bookkeeper for Knickerbocker Container Company, formerly of Vienna, W.Va., after college. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge from the service, he moved to Pompano, Fla., and was a bookkeeper for a large fruit and vegetable shipping company. After returning to Parkersburg, he worked at the Wood County Assessor's office until he retired. Don was a Methodist by faith and had attended Bethany United Methodist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Clarice Lux and her husband Walter and Mary Katherine Wells and her husband Ray. He is survived by his niece, Rebecca Vaughan and husband Ed; nephew, Steven Lux and wife Deborah, all of Washington, W.Va.; and great-nieces, Melinda Lux Larson and husband David of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Kristina Lux Suder and husband Joel of Parkersburg.
Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg is in charge of arrangements for cremation and interment in Evergreen Cemetery North. There will be no visitation or services at the decedent's request.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army for their meal programs or a favorite charity.
The family wishes to thank the staffs at Cedar Grove Assisted Living and Amedisys Hospice for their care and concern.
