Clarice I. Lux
Clarice Ireta Lux, 87, of Washington, W.Va., passed away on June 3, 2007, at Cedar Grove Personal Care Home.
She was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Parkersburg, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Alma Somerville Ludwig.
She was a 1938 graduate of Parkersburg High School, where she was secretary of her class. Student Council President and a member of the A Cappella Choir. She was a member of the Class Reunion Committee. She was secretary to the late Dr. Athey R. Lutz when he began his practice in Parkersburg in 1938. During World War II, she was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital and American Red Cross. She was secretary to the late Bernard F. Flood until she retired. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She was a member of the South Parkersburg Woman's Club, where she worked on many committees and was past president. She enjoyed crafts and cake decorating and taught cake decorating classes at Wards and at her home. She also enjoyed canasta with longtime friends who had been together for 50 years. She had been a volunteer with the Humane Society of Parkersburg for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Vaughan and husband, Edward, of Washington, W.Va.; a son, Steven Lux and wife, Debbie, of Washington; granddaughter, Melinda Lux of Ft. Myers, Fla.; granddaughter, Kristi Lux of Washington; a brother, Don E. Ludwig of Parkersburg; a sister-in-law, Patricia Nutter and husband, Gene, of Parkersburg; and a sister-in-law, Cindy Lux of Carlsbad, N.M.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Lux; a sister, Mary Kathryn Wells; sister-in-law, Margaret Copeland; and brother-in-law, George Lux.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor James Kinsler officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen North Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, P.O. Box 392, Parkersburg, WV 26102, or the charity of the donor's choice.
