(Asbury Park Press)EDWARD A. PILLION, SR.AGE: 84 LAKEWOODEdward A. Pillion, 84 years young, of Lakewood Township passed away Friday evening, Nov. 21 in The Specialty Hospital at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood Township, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Lakewood Township, he was a life-long resident there. Mr. Pillion proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Pillion was a general contractor for over 30 years establishing Pillion and Stuart the 1950s. He was greatly respected for his honesty and integrity in building homes and businesses throughout Ocean County. In the mid 1980s, Mr. Pillion began his employment with Georgian Court University in Lakewood Township serving as Plant Manager and Director of Capital Projects. His devotion to the Georgian Court Community made him very happy. Mr. Pillion was a life-long communicant of St. Mary of The Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood Township. He was a former member of the Board of Trustees at Georgian Court University. He was a former member of the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Dept. with Reliance Hose Company Number Four as well as a former Fire Commissioner. Mr. Pillion was also a former Member of The American Legion Post 166, Lakewood Township and B.P.O.E. Elks, Lakewood Township. He lived his life with tremendous strength of character and honesty. In 2003, he lost the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Jane Pillion. He was also predeceased by his mother and father, Anna and William Pillion; brothers, Harry Pillion, James Pillion and Harold Pillion and his sister, Ann Griffin. He is survived by his proud and loving children, son and daughter-in-law, Edward A., Jr. and Katrin T. Pillion, of Lakewood Township; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia P. and William A. Sheik., Jr., of Lakewood Township; his proud and loving grandsons, Matthew E. and his wife, Randi S. Pillion, of Wayne, Pa., Patrick P. and his wife, Patricia K. Sheik, of Spring Lake Heights; granddaughters, Kristin C. Sheik, of Lakewood Township and Alexandra K. Pillion, of Lakewood Township; his brother, William Pillion of Sea Isle City; his sisters, Dorothy Bartolf of Jackson Township, Virginia Matthews, of Brick Township and Catherine Bordonali, of Olds Mar, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Pillion is also survived by his loving, extended family from Georgian Court University. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at The George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp. His funeral liturgy will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Georgian Court University Chapel, 900 Lakewood Ave., Lakewood Twp. Entombment will follow privately at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lakewood Twp. The family has respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Mr. Pillion be made to the Georgian Court University Nursing Program, 900 Lakewood Ave., Lakewood Twp., NJ 08701-2697, and would greatly be appreciated.
