Michael Martin Bartolf
AGE: 95 ? Jackson Twp.
Michael Martin Bartolf, 95, of Jackson Twp., NJ passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at home. Michael was born at the family farm in Jackson Twp. and resided at the family residence his entire life. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1937. He played on the All-State Football team in 1936 when they had an undefeated season. Michael ran the family farm and started his own Trucking Business - The Bartolf Trucking Company. He was a dedicated volunteer fireman for 60 years. During his years of service, he rose to the ranks of Chief, President and Fire Commissioner. The assembly hall at the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Company has been named Bartolf Hall. Mr. Bartolf was a Communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Jackson.
He is predeceased by his parents, Henry M. and Susanna Vogel Bartolf; his wife, Dorothy Pillion Bartolf in 2009; his brothers, Henry Bartolf, Joseph Bartolf and Frank Bartolf; and his sister, Eva Bartolf Clark. He is survived by his daughters, Dona Bartolf Anderson and her husband, Jay of Malvern, PA, Suzanne Bartolf Langford and her husband, Thomas of Downingtown, PA, and JoAnne Bartolf Wiggins and her husband, Chip of Acton, MA; his sons, Michael Bartolf and his wife, Melanie of Richmond, VA, William Bartolf and his wife, Leslie of Jackson, NJ, and Robert Bartolf and his wife, Charlotte of Jackson, NJ; and his 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Monday, August 12, 2013, from 10-11 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Honey Locust Dr., Lakewood, NJ. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527 (732-364-6808). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Co. Scholarship Fund, 81 South Hope Chapel Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527 in memory of Dorothy and Michael Martin Bartolf, and would be greatly appreciated.
