DAN LEININGER FAMILY AGAIN IS SADLY BEREAVED
YOUNG DAUGHTER, VELMA, IS THIRD VICTIM OF PNEUMONIA
END CAME AT HOME ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Mother is Seriously Ill at Present Time and Brother and Sister Passed Away Not More Than Three Weeks Ago
The Dan Leininger family residing near the SS Peter and Paul Church, which has been heavily bereaved in the death of a son and a daughter was again stricken by the death of the remaining daughter, Velma, who passed away Saturday, February 21, at 11 p.m. from pneumonia, the same disease which caused the death of her brother and sister less than three weeks ago. The mother is still seriously ill and confined to her bed.
The funeral was held Monday morning at the home and the Rev. Father Rainer conducted the services. The pall bearers were Ethel McCoy, Margaret McVicker, Grace Schollmeyer, Amanda Schollmeyer, Christina Uthe and Elizabeth Uthe. Interment was in the church yard.
Velma Leininger was born July 16, 1912 in Harrison Township, Boone County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Leininger. She was bright and cheery in disposition and of great willingness to do for others. She was a member of the Junior Club of SS Peter and Paul Church.
She is survived by her mother, father, and her four brothers, Lloyd, Cleo, Louis and William.

Death year (1919) on the gravestone is incorrect. Surname on gravestone is also mispelled Leiminger, instead of Leininger. Boone County death records indicate death date as Feb. 21, 1920 and burial on Feb. 23, 1920. Newspaper article about Velma Leininger's death can be found in the February 23, 1920 issue. She is also listed on the 1920 US Census which was enumerated in February of 1920.
