TWO DEATHS IN LEININGER FAMILY BRING MUCH SORROW
HAROLD, BURIED ON MONDAY, SISTER DIES TODAY
MOTHER AND TWO OTHER CHILDREN VERY ILL
Harold Was Winner of the Calf Club Contest Last Year In This County; Ida Mae, Sister, Was Thirteen Years of Age
One of the saddest afflictions which has befallen any Boone County family is recorded from the Gilbert neighborhood in Harrison Township. On Monday, Harold, the 16 year old son of of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Leininger, was buried and this morning about 2 o'clock his sister, Miss Ida Mae, passed away. Both deaths were the result of the flu followed by pneumonia.
Harold passed away Saturday. He was 16 years of age, and well known in this city. He won the calf club contest last year and was a promising young man. The body was laid away in St. Peters and Pauls Cemetery, near Gilbert, on Monday, the Rev. Father Ranier conducting.
This, Wednesday morning about 2 o'clock, his sister, Ida Mae, passed away. She was 13 years of age and succumbed to the same disease. The family was stricken about ten days ago with the flu, and several cases of pneumonia developed. Mrs. Leininger and two other children are critically ill at the home.

Death year (1919) on the gravestone is incorrect. Surname on gravestone is also mispelled Leiminger, instead of Leininger. Boone County death records indicate death date as Feb. 7, 1920 and burial on Feb. 9, 1920. Newspaper article about the Leininger children deaths for Harold and Ida Mae can be found in the Wednesday evening, February 11, 1920 issue. He is also listed on the 1920 US Census which was enumerated in February of 1920.
