Clyde J. Hartman, 1922-2004, Sweet Springs
Clyde James Hartman, 81, of Sweet Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Sweet Springs Villa.
He was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Sweet Springs, a son of Walter and Lula Belle Jenkins Hartman. On April 20, 1946, he was married to Elizabeth Friedley, who died June 11, 2000.
Mr. Hartman lived in Sweet Springs all his life. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sweet Springs. He retired from Whiteman Air Force Base, where he was a supply supervisor. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 279 in Sweet Springs and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5649 in Concordia. He also was a member of Barbee Lodge 217 AF&AM in Sweet Springs. He enjoyed reading and gardening.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Neece, of Kansas City; a brother, Albert Hartman, of Sweet Springs; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Claude Hartman.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs, with the Rev. Lynn Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the family in care of the funeral home.
