Pauline V. Small
Pauline Virginia Ludwig Small, 97, of Gallipolis, Ohio, formerly of Gladwin, Mich., and the Parkersburg area, passed away June 19, 2006, at the Overbrook Nursing Center at Middleport, Ohio, following a short illness.
She was born Jan. 20, 1909, at Neosho, Mo., a daughter of the late Franklin and Frances Sarah (Fannie) Spears Ludwig. Pauline was a member of the North Parkersburg Baptist Church and retired in 1971 from General Motors Corporation in Ypsilanti, Mich., as an inspector with 29 years of service. She had been a member of the Vienna Senior Citizens. Pauline was an avid golfer until the age of 92, having been a member of ladies golf leagues in Michigan, Oxbow in Ohio and Worthington in Parkersburg.
Surviving are her caregivers for the past three years, cousins, Sharon and Willie Jacks of Gallipolis. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; and cousin, Jack Spears of Sandyville, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. Small; six brothers, Dan, Mack, Homer, Oliver, Bill and Jack Ludwig; and three sisters, Ollie Clegg, Fleta Riggs and Nina Schuler.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
