Estella H. L. (Hahn) Henze, 92, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012, at 4:00 a.m. at Bethel Manor. She was born May 14, 1920, in Evansville.
She graduated from Central High and Lockyears Business College and worked at Sunbeam Manufacturing. A member of St. Paul's UCC – German Township, she served on the church council, Altar Committee, Quilters' Circle and was Jr. and Sr. High Sunday School Superintendent. She was a member of Harmony Home Demonstration Club and led the Kassonettes 4-H Club for 15 years. She was the secretary of both Sinawik and Cynthia Heights PTA.
Estella was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry W. Henze; parents, Fred and Lydia (Bosecker) Hahn; and sister, Irene McFarland.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Schmidt of Ft. Wayne and Kathryn "Kathy" (Steve) Lappe of Newburgh; grandchildren, Gregory (Ana Lucia) Schmidt of McKinney, Texas, Ann (Jeffrey) Leek of Newburgh, Jeffrey Schmidt of Salt Lake City, Utah and Erin (Timothy) Leveille of Savage, Minnesota; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012, at St. Paul's UCC – German Township, 8701 Big Cynthiana Road, officiated by Paul Farmer, with burial in St. Paul's UCC – German Township Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 West Illinois Street and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
