Family and friends will be gathering from one hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place.
Eugene D. Clooten was born May 29, 1927, in Bismarck, to Clemens and Odelia (Barth) Clooten. He grew up and attended school in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 until being honorably discharged in 1946. He was a Seaman First Class stationed in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1945. Then he was also stationed in Sasebo Harbor Japan, Nagasaki, and Hiroshima from 1945 to 1946. Eugene had a great love for his country, family, animals, hunting and fishing.
Our father was a great hunter and fishermen. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His dog, Sandy, and his cat, DC, were his constant companions. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his four daughters, Kathy (Mark) Braun, Bismarck, Sharon (Larry) Husfloen, Round Up, Mont., Nancy (Charles) Arellano, Pueblo, Colo., and Joan (John) Roberson, Dayton, Minn.; four sons, Rodney (Janice), Lodi, Wis., Eugene Clooten Jr., Bismarck, and Duane (Janell), Bismarck; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard; one sister, Joan (Joe) Winbauer, all of Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemens and Odelia (Barth) Clooten; one son, Mark; two brothers, Robert and Leo; two sisters, Lavern Falkner and Dorothy Reidinger.
