Bio: Published in The Courier-Journal on 4/22/2009 SALEM ROBERTSON, SANFORD "SANDY," 84, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 in Salem, IN. He was born in Washington County IN to Charles and Carrie Robertson on April 16, 1925. He was veteran of World War II where he served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Distinguished Unit Badge, the Victory Medal World War II and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Western Hills Country Club of Salem. He retired from Bucyrus-Erie company after 25 years of service as an engineer erecting large mining machines. He is survived by his wife Ellen Robertson; daughter, Dawn Glantz, Louisville; son, James Robertson, Winston-Salem, NC; son, Jack Robertson, Louisville; brother, Charles Robertson, Milton-Freewater, OR; sister, Carolyn Simpson, Salem; sister, Helen McAullife, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; brother, Carl Robertson, Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Sandy will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Love Funeral Home, Palmyra, IN, with burial in the Martinsburg cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday. SANFORD
