Martha Streyle Published: Monday, July 6, 2009 1:19 AM CDT SIOUX FALLS - Martha Katherine Streyle, age, 89 of Sioux Falls, SD and formerly of Menno passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Zion Reformed Church in Menno, SD with Rev. Scott Henry officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Reformed-Kassel Cemetery. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Shane Bindert, Isaac Bindert, Shane Erickson, Douglas Pietz, Robert Pietz, and Jordan Hargens. Martha Katherine Streyle was born on February 29, 1920 in rural Yankton County, SD, the daughter of Philip and Louisa (Roduner) Guthmiller. She was raised in rural Yankton County and graduated from Irene High School. She was baptized on July 11, 1920 by Rev. F. A. Rittershaus at Saron Church. Martha was confirmed on July 1, 1934 by Rev. J. Bodenman at Salem Reformed Church. On June 18, 1944, she married Edor Streyle by Rev. Kaemphen at Saron Reformed Church. The couple farmed north of Menno, before moving into town in August 1977. She loved gardening and flowers, loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking, traveling, embroidery and spent many years with her husband as custodians of the Zion Reformed Church. She worked at the Menno Olivet Care Center as a housekeeper for a few years. Those who will always cherish her memory are her two daughters: JoAnn (Jerry) Zeeb of Tea, SD and Millie (Allen) Bindert of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Kim (Mike) Hargens, Shane (Paula) Bindert, Douglas (Linda) Pietz, Lisa (Shane) Erickson, and Ryan (Emily) Bindert; one step grandson, Aaron Zeeb; 12 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edor, her parents, two sisters, Adella Streyle and Alice Rabe and two brothers, Gilbert and Arnold Guthmiller.
