Gorton Ottmer Williams, 61, of Graysville, Ohio, died Friday, August 9, 1974, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born November 12, 1912 near Graysville, a son of Levi T. Williams and Loretta Pearl Edington Williams.
Mr. Williams was a graduate of Graysville High School in 1931.
On February 3, 1934, he was united in marriage to Beulah Virginia Nieb who survives with two sons and two daughters and their spouses. There are thirteen grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Harmon, of Bluffton; Mrs. Opal Ring, of Graysville; Mrs. Grethel Cline, of Mount Vernon; and Mrs. Dorothy Winland, of Woodsfield, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gorton in death were his mother and father; two brothers, Luther and Glenn, and one sister, Mrs. Murl Harmon.
Gorton was a retired employee of Olin Mathieson Corp., Hannibal. He was a member of Woodsfield Lodge No. 338, Knights of Pythias; Graysville Grange No. 2681; a seventh degree member. For many years he served Monroe County as Grand Deputy. He was a past school board member of the Monroe County Fair Board, the Southeastern Ohio Pony Racing Association, and a member of the Graysville United Methodist Church. He was, also, active and participated in many other community activities.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, August 12th, at two o’clock in the Bauer and Turner Chapel, Woodsfield, with Rev. Larry Huddleston officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
