Obituary for Jean Claire Reischman
Jean Claire Reischman was born May 30, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio. She went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on November 29, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Jean was born to Earnest A. Gabor, from Budapest, Hungary and his wife, Betty Marie Gabor from Cleveland, Ohio. She was very intelligent and musically inclined as a child and young adult. She was first chair violinist while attending Marymount High School in Cleveland. Jean attended Ohio State University, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Jean graduated OSU with honors. She met her future husband of fifty-four years, Paul Reischman, at Ohio State University. She earned her master?s degree and was an award-winning teacher and principal for many years.
Jean married Paul Lewis Reischman on June 6, 1953 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Cleveland. Jean and Paul had five beautiful children who survive her: Paula Jean Smrcina of Matthews, NC and her children: Jessica Noel Smrcina (daughter Lilly Noel); Amy Nicole and her husband Jacob Jonathan Feigl (children Olivia, David and Emily Feigl) of Atlanta GA; Emily Jean (husband Ronald) Kinyanjui (children Vera Sophia and soon to arrive, Jonathan Andrew) of Monroe, NC; the Rev. Charles John Reischman of Colorado and his wife Gina Reischman and their children: David Michael, Matthew Gabriel and Anna Kathryn Reischman; Dr. Timothy Jerome Reischman and his wife Dr. Grace Ann Reischman of Morehead City, NC; the children of her late daughter Lois Jane Brody: James Paul Brody and Nicholas Patrick Brody of Charlotte, NC; and Brian Joseph Reischman and his children Morgan Michelle and Ashlyn Nicole Reischman of Lake Norman, NC. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her daughter, Lois Jane Brody.
Jean began her professional career as an educator at St. Francis De Sales Catholic School in Akron, Ohio. She became Vice Principal at Voris Elementary School in Akron, Ohio and later became Principal at Lincoln Elementary School in Akron. She semi-retired from the Akron Public School System and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Jean officially retired from McAlpine Elementary School in Charlotte, NC, and focused her attention on her ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, with two more expected soon.
Jean attended St. John Newman Catholic Church in Charlotte and St. Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill, NC.
Jean loved the Roman Catholic Mass, the ALPHA COURSE, prayer meetings, and truly loved The Lord. Jean will be missed by family members, friends, neighbors, former students, and teachers from Ohio to North Carolina.
A celebratory Memorial service will take place at Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Funeral Home, Matthews, NC. 704-545-3553 on Saturday, December 7th, 2019 at 10:00 am.
