  [S927] Obituary. Roberta O'Dea Roberta A. O'Dea Bonita Springs, FL Roberta A. O'Dea, 72, went to her heavenly reward on Monday, November 3, 2008 after a long illness. She was born Roberta Anne Schaefer on December 23, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, where she met her husband, Thomas O'Dea. Together they raised their family, starting in Queens and moving to Mount Kisco and Chappaqua, NY before retiring to Bonita Springs in 1997. Tom and Roberta were married for over 53 years. In addition to her husband; she leaves behind her brother, John Schaefer of Ft. Worth, TX; her six children, Tom (Debbie) O'Dea of Leesburg, VA, Dan (Barbara) O'Dea of LaGrangeville, NY, Mary (Paul) Fleming of Ballston Lake, NY, Patrick (Holly) O'Dea of Alamo, CA, Donna (Jim) Colelli of Jericho, VT and Michael (Jayme) O'Dea of Bonita Springs. Her children and the 21 grandchildren they gave her were the light of Roberta's life. Roberta was most proud of her family, and they always felt her love and support. Family and friends alike enjoyed her great sense of humor and quick wit. Despite a long and often painful illness, Roberta was not one to complain. She loved life and she was genuinely interested in the lives of others, be they family, friends or strangers. To her children and grandchildren she offered a wonderful example of how to deal with life's challenges and constantly focus on the good in everyone and everything. She also loved God, and we are all comforted knowing that she is with Him for eternity. Relatives and friends are invited to call (TODAY), November 5, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs. There will be a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a Memorial Mass offered for Roberta on Thursday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Avenue North, Naples. A funeral mass and burial will take place in New York. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Joanne's House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
