Henry H. Rinehart
Henry H. Rinehart, age 86, of Canton, passed away peacefully while sitting in his favorite chair Thursday morning in his home. He was born on July 13, 1917 in Belmont County, OH, to the late Richard and Rosa Rinehart. Henry attended Somerton High School and then traveled to Canada where he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was made a flight instructor. At the beginning of World War II, he transferred to the United States Army Air Force where he earned his flight wings and became a member of the legendary Flying Tigers, eventually earning the rank of Captain. Henry was involved in many combat missions before being discharged in 1945 with numerous honors and decorations. He remained in the Air Force Reserves until 1955. He was employed for 45 years as a driver for Three C Highway Company, retiring in 1984. He also owned Rinehart?s Home Services from 1971 to the time of his death. The company is now operated by his son. Henry was a member of the Masonic Lodge #354 of Somerton, OH and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree, Valley of Columbus, OH. He was also a member of the Canton Moose Lodge, Canton Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge #68, American Legion Post 44 and the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Henry H. Rinehart, Jr. on January 23, 2004 and his brothers, Fred, Guy and Vance Rinehart. He is survived by his wife, Dolly (Graham) Rinehart, to whom he was married for 60 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Beth Rinehart of Malvern; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Rinehart of Medina, OH; sisters, Bea Keylor of Columbiana, OH and Ruth Jefferis of Barnesville, OH. The family would like to express their thanks to Aultman Hospital and Green Meadows Nursing Home for their kindnesses and caring services. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. John Clark officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 p.m.
