Hellen Irene Browning
1916-2009
Hellen Irene Browning, 93, of Ionia, Missouri, passed away Sunday evening, July 5, 2009, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Mo.
She was born January 17, 1916, in Stover, Mo., the daughter of Lewis Conrad Friedly and Orpha Belle (Merriott) Friedly. On August 28, 1943, in Leeds, Mo., she was united in marriage to Willis Eugene "Gene" Browning, and he preceded her in death December 21, 2002. Hellen and Gene lived most of their married lives on a farm near Ionia, Mo., and she was a member of the Ionia Methodist Church. Mrs. Browning also worked, for a number of years, at the Windsor International Shoe Factory.
Mrs. Browning is survived by 3 children, Janet Iggulden and her husband Raymond, St. Louis, Mo.; Victor Browning and his wife Linda, Lincoln, Mo.; Lyle Browning and his wife Linda, Ionia, Mo.; 9 grandchildren, Ellen Iggulden, Chicago, Illinois; Caroline Iggulden, St. Louis, Mo.; Deanna Browning and Paul Browning both of Lincoln, Mo.; Mathew Browning and his wife Tammy, Rocheport, Mo., Sarah Smith and her husband Eric, Chilhowee, Mo.; John Browning, Blue Springs, Mo.; Shannon Hunsaker and her husband Shawn, Sedalia, Mo.; and Quentin Browning, Independence, Mo.; 10 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Morgan, Keegan, Alyssa, Steven , Faith, Josiah, Abigail, Bethany and Adelynn; a sister, Elva Friedly, Prairie Village, Ks.; 2 brothers, L.D. Friedly, Butler, Mo.; and Ross Friedly, Blackburn, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her husband, Gene, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Russell Friedly and Claude Friedly.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, 3:00 p.m., July 9, 2009, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Pastor Donna Nichols officiating. Burial will be at the Ionia Christian Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
