Donald E. Lafferre
LAFFERRE, Donald E., 78, of Sandbar Road, Lewisville, Ohio, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 in the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.
He was born in Lewisville, on March 28, 1929, a son of the late Howard and Wilma Stoffel Lafferre.
He was a graduate of Lewisville High School; a lifetime farmer and oil and gas producer; a member of the Stafford United Methodist Church, Stafford, Ohio; a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery and 1st Guided Missile Center, Ft. Bliss, Texas during the Korean War; over 50 year member of the Stafford Lodge No. 300 F.&A.M; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge, Ohio; the Aladdin Shrine; the Belmont/Monroe Farm Service Agency with over 50 years of service; former member of the Monroe County Fair Board; and a devoted supporter of area athletics.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, H. Rick Rohr.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Martin Lafferre of 53 years, whom he married on November 22, 1953; one daughter, Karen (Dick) Sulsberger of Woodsfield, Ohio; three sons, Kirk (Karen) Lafferre, Kevin (Kris) Lafferre and Kasey (Patty) Lafferre, all of Lewisville; two sisters, Virginia Rohr of Columbus, Ohio and Shirley (Eugene) Evans of Baltimore, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Kimberly Lafferre, Keith Lafferre, Abby (Bill) Sulsberger Roen, Karrie Lafferre, Ryan Sulsberger, Trent Lafferre, Louis Sulsberger, Lynsey Lafferre, Kelsey Lafferre and Korey Lafferre.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 1-9 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2007 with the Rev. Gary Fitzgerald and the Rev. Tom Scott officiating.
Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, with full military graveside services.
Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
