- Bernard J. Weinberger, 76, BUTTERNUT ? Bernard "Bernie" J. Weinberger, age 76, of Butternut, passed away Thursday July 28, 2005 at Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls. He was born on August 23, 1928 in Butternut, the son of John and Anna (Ernst) Weinberger. His early life and schooling were in Butternut. In 1954 he entered the United States Army and served during the Korean War. On June 29, 1957 he married Hattie Kundinger in Park Falls. Bernie was a dairy farmer, cheese maker, stone mason, and a member of the Butternut American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife Hattie of Butternut; four daughters: Susan (Daniel) Lannigan of Wausau, Deborah (Mark) Fravert of Weston, Sharon (Kenneth) Walker of Butternut, Ann (Brian) Schmidt of Green Bay; 10 grandchildren: Matthew and Beth Lannigan, Garrett and Claire Fravert, Jackie Kundinger, Denise Bablick, and Stephanie Walker, and Jonathan, Emily, and Ellen Schmidt; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Elise Kundinger; two brothers: Henry (Rose Ann) Weinberger of Butternut and Edward (Dorothy) Weinberger of Medford; two sisters: Rosella Beaty of Union Grove and Hedwig (James) Jirschele of Park Falls; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Weinberger of Park Falls and Ruth Weinberger of Butternut; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: John, Joseph, Adolph, Frank, William and George; and two sisters: Mary Bruch and Ann Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 2 at 10 a.m. from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Butternut. Fr. James Jackson will officiate.
Burial will follow at St. Cecelia Catholic Cemetery in Butternut.
A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer vigil at 7 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
Memorials to St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth , Minn. and/or Flambeau Home Health and Hospice in Park Falls would be appreciated.
