[S927] Obituary. John Wolf, of whose death in the town of Addison we made a brief mention in our last week's issue, was one of the county's best known men. He was born Aug. 24, 1824, at Kleinbillisheim, Germany, and came to America on July 4, 1845. Immediately upon landing at New York he proceeded to Wisconsin and directly to the town of Addison, where he purchased a farm and resided upon it continually until the time of his death - on Jan. 19. He married Franziska Pfeiffenberger on Nov. 6, 1853. Eleven children were born to them, ten of whom and their mother survive him. The children are: John P. Wolf of Hartford, Adam, Mrs. John Hefter, Jacob, Philip, Martin, Paul, Mrs. Frank Hefter and Mrs. Ambrose Zingsheim of Addison, and Mrs. Xavier Moser of Theresa. Mr. Wolf was a man of sterling worth and character and his many good qualities received fitting recognition by his fellow-townsmen. For eight years he was chairman supervisor of Addison and as such served on the county board. He was also town tresurer for many years, and also served as a deputy sheriff and constable. He was an ideal husband and father and stood high in the estimation of his neighbors and friends. His death therefore caused grief to all who knew him. Besides his widow and children above named, he also leaves 46 grand-children, and 5 great-grand-children to mourn for him. His funeral, which took place last Thursday under the auspices of SS Peter and Paul church, was one of the largest that ever took place in the town of Addison, people coming great distances to pay a last tribute of respect to him, who, while living, was their true friend. The bereaved relatives have our heartfelt sympathy."
