Obituary
Myrtle Kathleen Klotz (nee Bruch)
Was born along with her twin, Kenneth (Monnie), to Eleanor and George Bruch on January 6, 1923 in Butternut, Wisconsin. She along with her 6 brothers and sisters went to the "Bruch School" for grade school and Butternut High School. Living on a farm in northern Wisconsin during the Great Depression, where hot lard on home-made bread was a delicacy, was difficult. She left the farm and moved with her sister, Marian, to Milwaukee during the early 40s where they lived on the East side. She worked for Globe Steel as a bookkeeper supporting the World War II war effort. She met Eugene Lawrence (Lefty) Klotz at a dance club and it was love at first sight. Lefty had recently returned from the army where he had served in the war in Europe. There were married on May 31, 1947.
Myrtle and Lefty had seven children and as a result moved to larger homes from a small cottage on Muskego Lake to a basement flat on Mitchell Street to a 5 bedroom home on Whitnall Avenue where there was always an extra pot of food on the stove as friends of the children were always welcome like family members.
She loved to cook and bake. For example she made a filled sweet bread called stollen from 1972 on, making as many as 138 over a weekend to be handed out as Christmas gifts with a wish to have a few "stollen moments". She had an interest in music which included 78 rpms of Verdi alongside Gene Autry ? Red River Valley. She played a guitar and would sing songs to her children. She loved to read. She along with her daughter Debbie loved to make crafts like seasonal wreaths, Halloween ghosts and Christmas ornaments. She loved to travel and went on trips all over the country including trips to Las Vegas to play the slots, family visits to California to visit her sister and Florida to visit her daughter and often "up north" to visit her parents and other relatives.
She went to work at Falk Corporation where Lefty worked and retired from there. She went back to work doing flower arranging ? something she also loved to do. She lost Lefty in 1990. After she bonded ever more closely to her children and grand-children. She learned to drive and took them everywhere. She was happily everyone's babysitter.
She lost her daughter Debbie in 1998. After Debbie's death she lived with her daughter Christine for fifteen years who helped her until she could no longer take care of herself by herself.
She was the light of the family and we will continue to keep that light burning.
