HOLMESVILLE -- Zelma Anora Merckle, 79, Holmesville, passed away
June 20, 2009 at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, following a short illness.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Plainview Church of Christ Cemetery, Woodsfield.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Holmes County Home, 7260 state Route 83, Holmesville, 44633.
She was born on March 10, 1930, in Woodsfield, and was the daughter of James Oscar and Cora Olive (Blazer) Covert.
On June 24, 1947, she married Evertt "Ike" Merckle and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1984.
Zelma attended Holmesville Church of Christ. She was a homemaker, enjoyed playing the piano and liked to play Bingo.
Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Lonnie and Bev Merckle of Nashville, and Danny and Betty Merckle of West Salem; two grandchildren, Carrie Merckle of Apple Creek, and Dusty Judson of Killbuck; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Brian Jones, Steven Jones and Lisa Reichert; a sister, Flossie Lemasters; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in
death by an infant daughter, seven sisters and three brothers.
