J.W. Van Dyne, 59, died at 1 a.m. Friday, September 10, 1982 in Marietta Hospital, Marietta following an illness and cancer.
He was born March 16,1923, in Barnesville, to Etta Friday Van Dyne of Barnesville and the late Harry Van Dyne. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He had been a Unit Supervisor at the Ohio Power Company Muskingum River Plant, Beverly, Ohio.
He was baptised in the Barnesville Presbyterian Church, he was a member of Russell Chadwick Post 389, American Legion at Beverly, and had been a unit committeeman for Waterford Boy Scout Troup 222 for several years.
He was married March 22, 1944, to Betty Lee Anderson of Martins Ferry. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Daryl J. Van Dyne of Waterford, and three sisters, Imogene Phillips and Geraldine Reed of Barnesville, and Marcella Heskett of Los Altos, California.
Services were held Sunday, September 12, at the McCurdy Funeral Home at Beverly and the Rev. Thomas Knauff officiated. Burial was in the Waterford Cemetery with military honors. Friends may contact Betty Van Dyne at P.O. Box 101, Waterford, Ohio 45786.
