  [S927] Obituary. Elaine M. Hoover GRAND RAPIDS ? Elaine Muriel Hoover, 71, of Grand Rapids, died Sept. 16, 2009, at her home. Elaine was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Suttons Bay, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Brow) Schaub. Elaine graduated from St. Mary's in Lake Leelanau. She retired from General Motors in the early 1980s and enjoyed camping, waterskiing, snowmobiling, traveling and crafting. In her later years she was most proud of and lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her four children, David (Jennifer) Hoover of Grand Ledge, Daniel Hoover of Grand Rapids, Fredrick "Doug" (Laurie) Hoover of Beulah, Ala., and Lynn (Kevin) Johnson of Pierson; sisters, Helen (Richard) McGarry, Marie Couturier, Jean Laurich and Donna (Larry) Hoogeboom; brothers, Richard (Anne) Schaub, Donald (Jackie) Schaub, Robert (Ruby) Schaub and Alfred Schaub; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Ash; and brother, Harold Schaub. Visitation will be held today, Sept. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., with the rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m., at Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau. Burial will follow the luncheon in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Mass Intentions, St. Mary's Catholic Church, PO Box 340, Lake Leelanau, MI 49653. Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
