SUTTONS BAY - Bertha Kolarik, 85, of Suttons Bay, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Munson Medical Center.
She was born March 10, 1917, in Suttons Bay, to John and Barbara (Hahnenberg) Priest. On Nov. 10, 1936, Bertha married Lawrence Kolarik at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Gills Pier.
Bertha was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Gills Pier for over 30 years until 1969, when she and Lawrence moved to Suttons Bay. She then became a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Bertha loved to work in her garden, was an avid bingo player, a marvelous cook and a source of joy to those she encountered throughout her life's journey.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lawrence Kolarik of Suttons Bay; her sons, Gordon (Shiegko) Kolarik, Vernon (Connie) Kolarik and Ray (Anita) Kolarik; her daughters, Margaret Tarsa, Ruth Weinert and Regina (Bob) Livingston; 29 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; her sister, Rita Kiessel; and her brothers, Leonard and Gerald Priest.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, JoAnn in infancy; brothers, Ernest, Gordon, Willard, and a brother in infancy, Emil; sisters, Louise Herman, Ella Herman, Marie Steimel; two sons-in-law, Albin Tarsa and Tom Weinert; and a granddaughter, Lisa Tarsa in infancy.
Friends and family may call today from 4 to 9 p.m. at Martinson Funeral Home where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the praying of the rosary.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suttons Bay with the Rev. Wayne Dziekan serving as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Mass Intentions or the American Diabetes Association.
