Josephine Briesacher
Josephine J. "Josie" Briesacher, nee Georgel, 94, of Belleville, Ill., born June 8, 1910, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Briesacher was a homemaker and also worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.; and a past member of the Cathedral Perpetual Help Sodality and the Cathedral Grade School Mother's Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert E. Briesacher, whom she married Nov. 28, 1929, and who died Feb. 11, 1979; a daughter, Betty Jo Ann Briesacher in infancy; her parents, John and Mary, nee Szlapkaukis, Georgel; two brothers, Joe and Roy Georgal; and a sister, Annie Appel.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Herbert A. (Vicki) Briesacher of Merritt Island, Fla., David G. (Jane) Briesacher of Waterloo, Ill., Diann F. (James) Stakias of Monessen, Pa., and Mary Jo (Larry) Going of Sebastian, Fla.; a sister, Frances Gravlin of Belleville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Josie (Dart) Haertel, Kathy (Steve) Boor, Karen (Clint) Wilhoite, Kurt (Liz) Briesacher, Kelly (Steve) Barnes, Jason (Tanya) Going, Lisa Marie Going and David, Andrew, Derek and Adam Briesacher; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the Cathedral Grade School for the Scholarship Fund.
Visitation: Friends may call form 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Peter's Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with Monsignor James Buerster officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
