Hi Ursula,
Thank you for updating the Ludwig Rothmann information.
Some more spelling considerations. Some of the church records say
Wolfertsweiler and some say Wolfartsweiler.
The record of Alois Rothmund uses Wolfertsweiler.
The LDS Family History Library Catalog uses Wolfartsweiler.
For the benefit of anyone who wants to look at the LDS records in the
future, could you please add a note of the alternate spelling? Trying to
decide which of all the spelling variations of names and locations to use
is certainly not easy.
I volunteer at the local LDS Family History Center. Your website is very
popular with many of the researchers there.
Some additional information about Alois/Lewis Rothmund/ Rodman and his
parents, grandparents, etc. This information is from LDS microfilms of
Church Records and Family Registers from Fleischwangen for Guggenhausen
and from Hohentengen for Gunzkofen, Ölkofen, Vollkofen, and several other
nearby villages.
We do not have a death date for Alois Rothmund/Lewis Rodman, but his Will
is dated 31 May 1890. His wife, Louisa Siefert , died 20 May 1891, a
widow. They both are buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester,
Monroe County, New York.
I just noticed that on Lucy Siefert's Family Group Sheet, her mother's
last name is spelled Höhn. The records from St. Michael The Archangel
Church in Appenweier spell her name Henn. More on the Sieferts
later----back to the Rothmunds.. C
Alois's father, Karl Rothmund, was born 17 September 1791 in Gunzkofen
and died 11 September 1872 in Guggenhausen. Age 81 years. He was buried
in Fleischwangen 14 September 1872. Karl and his family moved from
Wolfertsweiler to Guggenhausen in the parish of Fleischwangen On 2 March
1824, Karl Rothmund married Creszenz/Kreszenz Messmer in
Wolfertsweiler. She was born 9 March 1792 in Wolfertsweiler and died 6
August 1842 in Guggenhausen and was buried 8 August 1842. Age 50 years
5months. Her parents were Mathaeus Messmer and Maria Anna Kugler/Kuglerin.
Karl Rothmund's parents were Anton Rothmund from Gunzkofen and
Margaretha Säkler
from Wolfertsweiler.
Time to take a break. I will try to send more information tomorrow.

Hi Ursula,
Continuing the Rothmund information. With some more spelling variations.
Karl Rothmund's father:
Anton Rothmund was born 8 September 1744 in Gunzkofen and died there 10
July 1818. On 19 October 1771, Anton Rothmund married Margaretha
Siklerin/Säklerin in Gunzkofen. Margaretha was born 26 August 1752 and
died 18 February 1825. Her parents were Clemens Sikler/Säkler and Agatha
Kramerin. Anton Rothmund's parents were Christoph Rothmund from Ellkofen
and Franziska Irmlerin. This is from the Gunzkofen Family Register. The
Hohentengen Marriage Record says Christophor Rothmund is from
Altensweiler and Francisca Irmlerin is from Öllkofen. Christophor and
Francisca were married 18 April 1728. Because at that time period the
marriage records did not give the names of the parents of the bride and
groom I have not been able to trace Alois Rothmund's ancestry back any
farther.
Please let me know if you spot any glaring errors or have any questions.
