  [S8] Information from an informant - Auskunft eines Informanten - Information d'un informateur. Hello Ursula, I have recently found some additional information about Ludwig Rothmann I12758. The information that you have about him is from the Birth, Marriage, and Death Records from St. Joseph's Church in Rochester, NY. There are a few minor inaccuracies in the records---mostly spelling variations. In the church records, censuses, city directories, land deeds, wills, etc., he is also listed as Louis, Lewis, Alois, Aloÿs, Ludovicus, etc. Plus several variations of Rothmann and Rodman. According to the St. Joseph's Marriage Records, Ludwig Rothmann was from Guggenhausen, Bayern. Several other records state that he was from Württemberg. A couple of months ago, I finally found out how to obtain the church records for Guggenhausen, Württemberg. The Church Records and Family Registers are located in Fleischwangen, Württemberg. Microfilms of these records are available in the US from the LDS Family History Library. Finally getting to the point, Aloÿs Rothmund was born and baptized 12 June 1824 in Wolfertsweiler, Württemberg. His parents were Karl Rothmund and Kreszenz (Crescentia) Messmer. The Rothmunds moved from Wolfertsweiler to Guggenhausen 6 December 1834. Most of the German records spell the names Rothmund and Messmer.
