Robert “Bob” John Moreo
Pearl Harbor Survivor-
Robert “Bob” John Moreo, 95, of Mechanicsburg, died at home and surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. He was born in Perrysburg, OH, on Wednesday, June 5, 1918, son of the late John A. Moreo and Louisa M. (Simon) Moreo. Bob was the husband of Sandra L. (Taylor) Moreo whom he married on May 23, 1959.
Bob’s survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra; children, Robert J. Moreo, Jr. and wife Rhea of Mechanicsburg, Tamara Moreo Hepfer and husband Jim of Mechanicsburg, Patricia A. Martin of Mechanicsburg, Tim Moreo of Enola, Sandra Confair-Goshorn of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, AnnaMaria Moreo, Robert J. Moreo III, Matthew Martin, Eric Martin, Robby Martin, Logan Confair, Baillie Confair, Brooke Goshorn; great-grandson, Jacob Martin; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Bob in death are his siblings, Marcella Caseman, Richard Moreo, Donald Moreo, Aloysius Moreo, and Paul Moreo.
Bob graduated from Perrysburg High School as part of the class of 1936. He was an employee with the US Government for 39 years, retiring from New Cumberland Army Depot in 1980. Bob was a decorated USMC WWII Veteran and a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was a tail gunner on the SBD 6 planes. Bob was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg. He was also a member of N.A.R.F.E. and the Mechanicsburg VFW Post 6704. Bob was an extremely gifted storyteller, talented woodworker, and a jack of all trades. He piloted his own plane in his earlier years.
All are welcome to join Bob’s family at his visitation on Thursday, December 26, 2013, from 9:15 to 10:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 420 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, with Reverend Louis P. Ogden celebrating. . Bob’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the mass. Burial with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville
