  [S927] Obituary. Obituary Posted 9/6/05 Christian D.P. "Shorty" Christian, 92, of Elk River, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2005, after celebrating his birthday on Aug. 11. His entrepreneurial spirit, salesmanship, determination, and hard work built up several successful businesses. He finished his working life when he retired from Federal Cartridge. After he retired, he enjoyed family get-togethers, garage sales, and winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. According to his family, "Anyone who met him never forgot him. He was a character, with personality plus, who would talk with anybody, anytime, anywhere." He will be remembered for his boundless energy, twinkling eyes, great smile, bounce in his step, and his mischievous sense of humor and fun. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Aug. 17 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, with interment at St. Andrew's Parish Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Dare's Funeral Home of Elk River. Mr. Christian is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva; children Dodie (Mike) Gallagher, Carol (Paul) Williams, Dennis (Patricia), Sandra, Gary (Sherry) and Gordon (Tammy); 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim, Pete and Lenore Crofford; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Sr. Aquin Christian, Charles, Harold and Eugene. All memorials will be given in his honor to St. Andrew's new parish community center.
