Helen (Vilhauer) Guthmiller, 88
April 3, 1917 - September 29, 2005
Funeral services for Helen Marie Guthmiller were held Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., at Friedens Reformed United Church of Christ, Tripp, with the Rev. Greg Way officiating. Music was furnished by David Finck, soloist, and Shelly Finck, organist.
Interment was made in the church cemetery with Goglin-Kelley Funeral Home, Tripp, in charge of arrangements. Honorary casketbearers were her many friends and relatives. Casketbearers were Brian Faeth, John Faeth, Douglas Harms, David Vilhauer, Glen Vilhauer, and Tony Weber.
Helen Marie Guthmiller was born on April 3, 1917, to Henry and Marie (Retzer) Vilhauer of rural Tripp. She was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed faith.
She married Harold Guthmiller on April 30, 1936, at Tripp. They farmed near Tripp until 1939, when they moved to Highmore. They moved back to Tripp in 1941 and farmed until 1949, when they moved to Olivet where they owned and operated a service station. They retired to Scotland and moved back to Tripp in 1989.
She died on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Avera Bormann Manor, Parkston, at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Marie (Dennis) Brick, Aberdeen; one son, Mervin (Phyllis) Guthmiller, Avondale, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and one step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Arlean Parton, Lincoln, Calif.; and her very dear friend, Erma Walker, Tripp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1994; her parents and step-mother; two brothers; one sister in infancy; and one stepsister.
